  2. This poem was very hopeful because it said that you should never give up your dreams but at the same time, sad. But not a sad, sad, a be careful sad that what would happen if you give up. My dream is to go to Air Force college, and become an astronaut in NASA. That, or go to Harvard, or USC, or NMSU. Whatever happens, i'll do my best.

  3. This poem was a very thought provoking poem. To understand the poem you really have to really read between the lines. This poem is very hopeful and makes me feel like I can do anything and nothing can be in my way. My dream when I grow up is to hopefully go to Harvard Law School and accomplish that

  4. I agree with Daniella, the poem is very thought provoking and makes you think deeply while reading the poem. Every time I read this poem the mood seems to change. When we were thinking of the different kinds of moods in class, it made me look at the poem through a different perspective. The first time I read through the poem the mood seemed to be melancholy. But like I said before, after reading it again the mood was different. My dream is to become a vet and save animals that are in a badf situation, or, learn to play the violin and be a violin player in the Fresno Philharmonic.

  5. Personally I love that poem. I agree with Alexa and Daniella. It connects so deeply if the reader is reading with an open mind. I think the moral is life without dreams is basicly pointless because you have no hope. When I read that poem the mood i feel the most is melancholy. I think of this because of all of the sad things Langston says will happen when dreams die. When the poem talks about dreams I think of both kinds of dreams. The first one is dreams at night because when I think about it night would be dreamless and boring. Which would make it "pointless." The other type is more like a goal. When I grow up I want to be a research scientist. I also want to help find a cure for a type of cancer.

  6. I totally agree with daniella and alexa. I love this poem. When I read it for the first time in class for fiday's poems, i didn't interpret all of the things I did when we went over it in class. When we read over it in class, it made me think so much deeper than before. I think the mood to this poem is strong and serious. Although, i do also think that it is sad in a way. My dream when I grow up to to live in LA by the beach and have a realy good job that pays well. This poem realy opened my eyes to the ways of looking at a poem for a second time.

  7. "Dreams" was vsery inspiring to me. It really made me think about how I would be able to accomplish my dream to be in Cirque du Soleil. It really helped to get a deeper understanding of the poem. I think it's absolutely a beautiful poem. I'm so glad we read it! Can't wait to read another Langston Hughes poem!

  8. This poem, sad as it was, was inspiring. If I ever feel like pursuing my dream is too hard, I will remember this poem and make another push to achieve my goal. Langston did a wonderful job of getting his message across in a short poem, yet all the contents are decipherable. The figurative language is very powerful. I got a clear image when it said "a bird with broken wings" and "large meadow frozen with snow." I loved this work and look forward to reading other poems by Langston Hues!

  9. I agree with Morgan, this is a very inspiring poem. It makes me realize that without a dream life is pointless. It also makes me realize that I have a dream and I need to hold on to it and not let anything come between us. This poem is encouraging too. It says to hold on to your dreams because if dreams die life is a broken-winged bird that can not fly. This is a great poem!

  10. I agree with Daniella, Maddie, Katie, and Lexi, the poem was very thought provoking and I loved it. Like Maddie said, I didn't really interpret all of the things when I first read it, but when we read it as a class I understood it clearly. I loved going deeper into the text. I thought the mood of the poem was very melancholy and hopeful. Now that I've read it I'll go for my dreams and try to accomplish them instead of not doing anything. My dream in life is to eventually become a part of the Fresno Philharmonic and continue to play my violin.

  11. I agree with Daniella, Katie, Maddie, Morgan, Ryan, and Alexa (GOSH, a lot of names). This poem can be very inspiring and thought provoking. It really gets me thinking if you let go of your dreams that you want to accomplish, you get no where. Life is just a barren field of snow (like the poem said) if you just give up your dreams. The poem can get you believing to try to accomplish your dreams instead of sitting on a couch, eating chips, and watching TV (if you do that). That is how the poem made me feel. I just really hope these things don't happen to me when I try accomplish my dream of being a magazine producer.

  13. Sorry about that. I agree with almost everybody thats posted. "Dreams" is a very inspiring poem that tells you to go after your dreams, and don't gve up. Also if a person looked at the poem close enough, it would seem like Langston Hughes was talking directly to you, telling you to chase down your dreams. People should really listen to the advice given in this poem since many inspirational writers agreed with the words langston Hughes wrote. One of these writers was Mark Twain who said, "Don't part with your dreams. When they are gone, you may still exist, but you have ceased to live."

  14. Sad yet inspiring, "Dreams" is a very inspiring poem. The poem shows you should be hopeful and not to let go of your dreams. It shows that without dreams life has no meaning and is like a bowl of soggy cheerios. Langston Hughes has a powerful meaning in this poem that should be thought of as brilliant and inspiring, showing that you can do what you dream if you keep on going.

  15. This poem generally gives the idea that if you do not aspire to become better or achieve something, there is no point in life. This poem also literally connetcs to Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr! because Eragon's dreams are preminitions. If he does not pay attention to them, he will be hurt phisically and mentally, and through their bond, so will Saphira. This might prevent her from flying.

  16. This is truly an amazing poem, and is so true. If me or anybody else completely gives up on their dreams, hope goes along with it too, and though you will be alive, you will cease to live.

  17. This is an emotional poem. It is sad and tells a message. Dont give up on dreams and be hopefull about your goals. Withought dreams life is meanless. Langston Huges the author shows his meaning in dreams in a brilliant and inspiring way. If there is no goals, or dreams in a life, why carry on.

  18. I thought it was a sort of advice poem telling people to not give up their dreams or life will be worthless.

  19. Wow. This poem really makes one think like Daniella said. At first this poem didn't mean much to me and was just another poem to read, but then when we read it whole class I really got into it. I didn't think a poem would make me really think about my future like this one did. This poem also made me realize that without dreams there would not be much technology, great medicine, or even good music or food. Dreams are very important and this poem emphisized that and speaks to me. A
neo-natal specialist (baby doctor) is what I want to be, and now I will always remember to keep dreaming because dreaming is what made the world what it is today.

  20. Lawrence is correct I feel it's saying don't give up on your dreams. It reminds me of Mother to Son telling people not to give up hope

  22. This poem is hopeful and encouraging. It's saying, don't give up your dreams even if they seem imposible. Most likely, you can fufill your dreams. This poem is very inspiring due to the hope Langston shows through his poem.
My dream is to become a famous actress, and I already started to try my best at it. This summer, my parents found some agents I could see for acting auditions. Can't wait:)

  23. At First I thought that this poem was acually about sleepy dreams but in the middle of reading it hit me that it was really goals that you have and not to give them up. the other people in my group saw this poem and their imagery contained depression but in mine I had a FLYING bird and a GRASSY field not the opposite. One of my dreams is to go and become an actress/singer. I've already been in a few plays and I love it! 1 was with Childrens Musical Theater (CMT) and the other was Hamlet. THe next one coming is the school play in which i got a very good part! I CANT WAIT!!!!!! (also im trying out for more cmt produtions this summer!)

  27. I think the poem is a life lesson that tells you to always follow your dreams. If the person that started Walmart never chased his dream, we wouldent have low prices!

  28. This poem tells you to never let go of your dreams and even if times are tough, don't give up. This poem also reminds me of "mother to Son" because both send a positive message and tell you to never ever give up , no matter what!
